Have you ever wondered what Bible stories, like the "Exodus" or "Daniel and the Lion's Den" had to do with you today? Do you sit around wondering where deeply engrained "Christian" beliefs that you can't find in the Bible come from, and just how influential 17th century literature like Paradise Lost was on our beliefs today?
This is Ree, and I'm asking you: have you ever wondered what Bible stories, like the "Exodus" or "Daniel and the Lion's Den" had to do with you today? Do you sit around wondering where deeply engrained "Christian" beliefs that you can't find in the Bible come from, and just how influential 17th century literature like Paradise Lost was on our beliefs today? Do you count the churches in a single mile and wonder how and why we acquired so many denominations and what is the difference between them? Maybe you're agnostic or atheist and simply wonder why we believe at all…

I get that. I was the child who couldn't stop asking questions in church, and many times, it was a question no one could answer. I've been diligently studying the Word, cross-referencing it with history and science, comparing the original Hebrew, Latin, and Greek words and how the connotations have changed from the original to the translations, and to modern English versions. In these past 3 decades--ok, maybe not a full 3 decades, but close enough--I've learned a lot.

For instance, did you know that when sound passes through an air bubble under water it creates light? That's called sonoluminescence. I'm sure you're wondering why randomly started talking about sonoluminescence but:
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:2-3

Interesting, right? Well, what better way to get other people thinking, talking, asking and answering questions than to share what I've learned via podcast? Starting this June I'll be your host for In God I Trust, a podcast extension to my current blog at thechristianhistory.com. Weekly episodes will feature a mix of relating Bible stories to today, science, misconceptions, and doctrinal differences between denominations. Also, I'd like to feature a few interviews with believers--maybe even non-believers--so, if you're not microphone shy contact me via the blog at thechristianhistory.com so we can set things up. I hope you'll tune in, subscribe, like, tweet, Instagram, pin… and what ever else there is to do in Social Media Land. Again, this is Ree, and I'll see you in June with Season 1: Beginning with a Bang!
