Life of a Grad Student

Is there
A light at the end of
Some metaphorical tunnel
I'm walking through blindly?
Is it
Just over the horizon
Waiting to see my face?
In my mind
I see it lurking,
Zooming in and out
Of my focus,
Intangible but real--
Toying with perception.
If it
Would just be still
Relax if only for a moment;
Then I would close
My eyes delicately and
Picture that light expanding
Until, metaphorically,
The tunnel was gone.
